The magic of Christmas doesn't have to last for just one day. With some people choosing to give a token gift on the 24th December and with a roaring trend for Christmas Eve boxes, there is definitely a place for treats the night before. At KIDLY we are all for those little extras to get them warmed up for the big day, so here are three ideas for making Christmas Eve one to remember.
With plenty to get done on Christmas Eve as adults, we are talking about prepping the veggies and wrapping the gifts, you can keep kids entertained with cute crafty sets. Stylish brand Fabelab have various kits to get them in the mood for Christmas. DIY stockings to encourage simple stitching and felt gingerbread houses to construct, are perfect for siblings or friends to enjoy together. If you're doing Christmas Eve boxes, why not DIY one for them to dip into throughout the day. We love the Aykasa crates which have just landed, pick a mini or midi, fill it with goodies such as kitpas crayons, Petit Collage games and Play In Choc treat boxes. After the festivities are over, use it as versatile storage in their rooms. They are stackable and fold flat too, basically they are great.
ALL THE CHILLS
If Christmas Eve in your house looks like one big chill fest, keep things extra snuggly with new loungewear for the little ones. Liewood have the sweetest animal jumpsuits, ideal for them to hang out in at home, but they're snug enough to wear out for any last minute supermarket dashes. They can pair them with some new slippers at home too, what’s Christmas without new slippers anyway?! We are big fans of the Egos Copenhagen booties, they’ll be perfect all winter long - and beyond. Pre-bed time, when you need to get them in the mood for sleep, they’ll love having a new book to enjoy. For families doing the four gift rule too, Christmas Eve is an ideal time to give them their something to read. For the youngest, the tactile TouchWords books are super and for older ones, we love the Little People Big Dreams series and the I Am Goodness set of three books.
A GOOD NIGHT'S REST
With Christmas day often starting in homes with kids sometime before the birds have even started chirping, you are going to want to ensure they have a good bed time routine, but it doesn't have to be without magic. First up, don't forget the stocking for putting at the foot of their bed, or on the mantlepiece, or wherever is traditional for it to go in your home. Meri Meri and Fabelab have cute, timeless designs that can be used year after year. A new little nightlight would be perfect too, so they can take a peak at their stocking loot when they wake up. Litecup, the practical 2-in-1 beaker and light or the star Jabadabado light, can be popped in their Christmas Eve box. Lastly, don't forget those new pyjamas which will look great in Christmas morning photos. We love that siblings can twin with our KIDLY Label designs and Bernie and The Beanpole have some modern, colourful styles too.
